In a singing circle everyone sings simple songs, mantras and medicine songs together – no sheet music, no auditions, just call and response. Kirtan comes from the Indian bhakti tradition: mantras sung in call and response, often with harmonium and drums. Circle singing is improvised, and voice work helps you find a freer voice.
In Zurich, singing circle currently happens most often at nandala, Zürich, H202 and nandalayoga. Saturday is the busiest day. Most prices are between 25 and 35, typically around 25 CHF. 3 of the events are free. 17 organisers offer 33 dates in the next 6 months.
