In a singing circle everyone sings simple songs, mantras and medicine songs together – no sheet music, no auditions, just call and response. Kirtan comes from the Indian bhakti tradition: mantras sung in call and response, often with harmonium and drums. Circle singing is improvised, and voice work helps you find a freer voice.
In Berlin, singing circle currently happens most often at Yoga Sky Berlin, Yogicescape Friedrichshain and Yogicescape Prenzlauer Berg. Saturday is the busiest day. Most prices are between 9 and 48, typically around 17 €. 8 of the events are free. 25 organisers offer 32 dates in the next 6 months.
Do I need to be able to sing?
No. The group carries the sound – it is about connection, not performance.
